13 Integrated Calculation Modules
Shell, bottom, roof, wind stability, wind girder, seismic, anchorage, external pressure, weights, nozzle weights, foundation load, and summary — all connected, all in sync.
TankCode 650 is a full-scope API 650 calculation platform for structural and process engineers. 13 integrated modules. Multi-edition support. Stamp-ready PDF reports.
Every formula references its source clause. No black boxes — every intermediate value is visible from input to stamped output.
From initial geometry to stamped PDF — no switching between spreadsheets, manuals, and disconnected tools.
Shell, bottom, roof, wind stability, wind girder, seismic, anchorage, external pressure, weights, nozzle weights, foundation load, and summary — all connected, all in sync.
Switch between 11th, 13th, and 14th Editions instantly. The engine applies the correct clauses, tables, and ASCE version automatically — no manual adjustment.
ASCE 7-10, ASCE 7-16, IS 1893 Part-2, and Site Spectra — all per API 650 Appendix E two-mass impulsive/convective liquid model.
One-click generation of full engineering reports with clause references, intermediate values, and PASS/FAIL status for every design check — ready for client submission.
Visualise your tank geometry in real-time 3D — shell courses, roof, nozzles, anchor chairs, wind girders, and stiffeners rendered isometrically as you design. Instant geometric validation.
Full metric SI and US Customary support with field-level unit switching. Backend stays in SI — all conversions at the UI layer — ensuring calculation accuracy regardless of display unit.
Export tank geometry directly as PML scaffold for AVEVA E3D plant design integration — bridging API 650 calculation with 3D plant modelling workflows.
Admin-managed registration, JWT authentication, trial and licensed tiers, per-user calculation history, and rate limiting — enterprise-ready from day one.
Each module is independently verified against API 650 clause references and cross-linked — change one input and every downstream check updates instantly.
Course-by-course shell plate thickness per API 650 § 5.6.3. Supports one-foot method and variable-point method, up to 12 courses with individual material, corrosion allowance, and joint efficiency.
Bottom plate and annular ring design per API 650 § 5.9. Minimum thickness, annular width, and junction adequacy based on shell material and loading.
Fixed-roof design per API 650 § 5.10.2. Self-supported cone and dome, Appendix F frangible joint design, 11 junction Figure F-2 types, and supported roof rafter sizing.
Wind overturning and sliding stability per API 650 § 5.11. IS 875 and ASCE 7 wind methods with multi-elevation load integration and intermediate wind girder sizing.
Two-mass impulsive/convective model per API 650 Appendix E. Auto-selects ASCE 7-10 or 7-16 based on API edition. Full IS 1893 Part-2 support for Indian projects.
Auto-sizes anchor bolt diameter and count to resist combined seismic and wind uplift per Appendix E. Checks shell compression and bolt tension. Covers bolt chair geometry.
Shell buckling analysis under external pressure per API 650 Appendix V. Calculates critical buckling pressure, required stiffener ring spacing, and verifies shell adequacy against vacuum and wind-induced suction loads.
Automated nozzle and appurtenance weight schedule per ASME B16.5 flange classes. Calculates shell, roof, and bottom nozzle weights including pipe stubs, flanges, reinforcement pads, and blind flanges by count and class.
Intermediate and top wind girder section modulus design per API 650 § 5.9.7. Verifies the shell stiffness against wind buckling with required section modulus calculation for the top curb angle and any intermediate stiffening rings.
Full weight schedule for erected, operating, and hydrotest conditions. Foundation loads: vertical, horizontal shear, and overturning moment for civil/structural interface.
One-click PDF with all modules, clause references, intermediate values, and PASS/FAIL status. Export AVEVA E3D PML scaffold for 3D plant integration. Save and reload designs.
Designed around how engineers actually work — not how software vendors think they do.
Input geometry, pressures, temperature, materials, seismic zone, wind speed, and site conditions — all on one structured Inputs page.
All 13 modules run simultaneously. Cross-tab data flows automatically — shell feeds anchorage, which feeds foundation load. No manual re-entry.
Generate a comprehensive PDF engineering report, save the design to the dashboard, or export geometry as AVEVA E3D PML — all in one click.
These clips use real captures from the running app at app.tankcode650.com. PDF export is shown in paid access mode.
TankCode 650 was born from a simple frustration: API 650 tank design still happens in fragmented spreadsheets, disconnected calculation sheets, and decade-old desktop tools that crash before a deadline.
At Codebase Engineering, we set out to build the calculation platform we always wished existed — one that covers the full API 650 design scope, stays current with the latest edition, handles Indian and US seismic standards equally well, and produces reports that engineers can actually submit.
Every formula in TankCode 650 is traced to its clause in API 650. Every intermediate value is visible. Every design check is explicit. Because engineers deserve tools that show their work — not black boxes that output a number and ask you to trust it.
TankCode 650 supports the 11th, 13th, and 14th Editions. The 14th Edition (August 2025) is the default. Edition selection is on the Inputs page and automatically adjusts ASCE seismic version, table references, and clause logic throughout all modules.
Four methods: (1) ASCE 7-10 mapped spectrum, (2) ASCE 7-16 mapped spectrum, (3) IS 1893 Part-2 + IITK-GSCDMA for Indian projects, and (4) Site Spectra using direct spectral acceleration inputs. The correct ASCE version is auto-selected from the API edition chosen.
TankCode 650 is browser-based — no installation required. It can be deployed on your own office server for network-wide access, or accessed via a hosted instance.
Yes. The PDF export covers all 13 calculation modules with formula references, intermediate values, API 650 clause citations, and PASS/FAIL status for every design check. Structured for engineering submission.
IS 875 (Indian standard) with k1, k2, k3 risk and terrain factors, and ASCE 7 with Kz, Kzt, and Kd factors. Both integrate multi-elevation wind loads for overturning and sliding stability checks per API 650 § 5.11.
TankCode 650 offers five plans: Trial (free, 7 days — shell, bottom, roof), Basic ($20/month — core modules), Standard ($40/month — all modules + PDF reports), Advanced ($45/month — Standard + 3D viewer + PML export + team sharing), and Enterprise (custom pricing — on-premise installation, unlimited users, custom modules, SSO).
